QRS CE Marked Intumescent Fire Sleeves prevent the spread of fire where either rectangular or circular plastic ducts penetrate fire compartment walls. QRS CE Marked Intumescent Fire Sleeves should be used where a plastic ventilation duct penetrates a fire rated wall to maintain the compartmentation in the event of a fire.
The QRS Fire Sleeve consists of a continuous pressed steel shell containing a high performance graphite based intumescent material which reacts under the influence of heat to exert pressure on the plastic vent duct as it softens to form a carbonaceous char which provides an effective insulation plug thus preventing fire passing through to the adjoining compartment.
The QRS is manufactured specifically to suit differing sizes and diameters of duct and is supplied ready to be fitted into the wall with an opening lid for retrofitting.
Tested to Type X durability which means the QRS CE Marked Intumescent Fire Sleeves can be installed in conditions exposed to weathering.
For the simplest installation, the QRS Fire Sleeve should be installed around the duct and then the wall installed tight around the QRS, however, they can be retrofitted into the wall too.
